Producer 2, Pt. 3
A 2 track balearic / downtempo single (7m 7s) — released August 3rd 2009 on Fat City
This is the third 7inch in a series of 4 featuring tracks taken from the forthcoming Producer 2 album set for release in the Autumn. The compilation brings together all the most exciting elements around today from Hip Hop, electronica and beyond in the post - Dilla generation. Featured artists include Dabrye, Mike Slott, Carlos Nino. Daedelus, Illum Sphere, Tandy Love, Ras G, Low Limit & Mr Dibiase.
This 7inch features San Fran based Charles Dickerson aka Mono/Poly, a member of the infamous Brainfeeder collective and regular DJ at the seminal Low End Theory club in L.A. Mono/Poly releases Brainfeedeeder, his own Tastefullicks label and has recently been included on the new Beat Dimensions album. This is one of his older productions but still sounds fresh and is a favourite to many. Full of soul and rocking a slo-mo boogie feel this track definitely stands out from many of its contemporaries.
Mono/Poly is backed by Illum Sphere. After Djing at Sketch City & Hoya:Hoya in Manchester for a number of years (whilst guesting at renowned clubs such as Low End Theory in L.A and Friends & Family in London) Illum Sphere has recently released his debut e.p on Fat City and has a release imminent on One Handed Music. 'Medusa' is a brooding, layered piece which again has its own particular sound and feel very much intact.
