Tryin

A 3 track underground rap/hip-hop single (13m 44s) — released June 15th 2009 on Fat City

Broke'n'English are Mancunian MC / producers Strategy & DRS famed for their highly entertaining live shows, freestyling and slick lyricism. The pair met via seminal Manchester clubnight subtub before launching their own imprint Estate Recordings in 2003 releasing classics such as 'Squeeze' and the a-listed 1xtra favourite 'History'. DRS in particular is a name you should be familiar with from the mid nineties heyday of D&B label Good Looking Records, which saw him tour the world with LTJ Bukem and Blame and feature on the seminal Progession Sessions 2-4 albums. This element to DRS' skills is still in demand today as he is resident MC at Marcus Intalex' Soul:ution nights all over Europe. BnE really come to life on stage with raptourus shows that have seen them gain cult like status in their native north west and support international stars such as Jurassic 5, Skinnyman, Jeru the Damaja, Rahzel, Jesht, Souls of Mischief and many more. Tryin' is the first single to be taken from their album and was first heard on their underground mix CD Terms and conditions. It features DRS's rarely heard soulful vocals (think Luther Vandross!) as well as raps from Stategy and MC/DJ Konny Kon. For remix duties DRS turned to Calibre, one of the most sort after D&B remixers in the world and someone he has regularly toured with. This Belfast production genius has turned in a typically dubbed out roller which has got DJs such as Marcus Intalex, Fabio and Flight excitable and seen plays on Radio 1 & 1xtra.
